Meet the Team

Allow us to Introduce, TEAM VORG! Get to know us, say hi!

Jay Preston

Creative Director&
Editor in chief

Jay Preston is an actor who found his passion and calling on various theatrical and improv stages throughout New England.  Although he moved to LA in 2005 to pursue film and TV…

He instead found his true passion in the incredible world of Voice Over. In 2019, he married the love of his life, Megan Hensley, and together they run the The Booth Of Us.

Co-founder of the renowned VO Weekly Workout, Jay is also the creator and founder of The Voice Over Collective (The VOC), which has been a resource to the voice over community since 2011.  It is through The VOC that in 2022 he was offered the opportunity to take The VORG into the future.  To tackle this adventure, he knew he needed to bring in his long-time friend and business partner, Tim Friedlander.

Jay started his voice over journey with nothing, and with no idea what to do… and within 3 years found himself working full time in the industry, and on everyone’s radar.  This unique vo experience, theatrical background and more than 15 years of Improv and training allow him to easily relate to all levels of actors.  His ear for comedy and timing, and a very active subconscious, give him the extra edge that has led to many of his bookings.

Rick Dasher

OWNER

A native of Los Angeles, Rick Dasher started his engineering career in Santa Barbara in1980 at KTYD, the city’s number one rock station, writing and producing radio commercials…
After moving back to LA, he began working as a production engineer at various syndication houses around town and eventually landed a job as head engineer at a premier studio in Burbank recording and posting voice-over.

In 1998, he made the leap and started his own studio North Hollywood Sound (NHS) out of his garage. Since then, the studio has expanded to commercial locations in Burbank and Valley Village with 4 rooms and 6 full-time employees; recording and posting audio for radio and TV commercials, video games, syndicated shows, audiobooks and more.

For many years, the studio hosted voice-over classes for Hope Levy, Dolores Diehl, and others. After Dolores retired, Rick took the reins at The Voiceover Connection, and for over a decade now it has been going strong, with the help of Sue Boyajian and other well-regarded actors and directors who teach a wide range of classes.

In 2018, NHS acquired Dave & Dave Recording Studios and The Voice Over Resource Guide.  The studio now operates under the name of Dave & Dave Recording Studios and remains a leader in voice-over recording and post production for top entertainment networks, publishers and content providers. After a number of VORG publications, he decided to partner with the team at The Voice Over Collective in an effort to take the VORG to the next level.

Michèle Haines

Project Coordinator & VORG Research

After her start as a 15 year old Charm City radio dj, Michèle then found herself on a winding, synchronistic path of incredible experiences…

That path went from forensics to fitness, fashion and photography fields which then led Michèle into the loving arms of voiceover, improv and stand-up comedy.

Michèle invites you to eavesdrop on her phone calls with her charmingly hilarious mom, Babsie, on their unscripted, accidentally comedic podcast, On the Line with Babsie.

And you can see her live every Tuesday night, hosting open-mic comedy at the Kibitz Room (Canter’s Deli, L.A.).

She also serves as Project Manager with the greatest recording studios on flat Earth, soundBOX Studio Group in L.A.

Joanne Lichtenstein

Graphic Design & Coordinator

A versatile performer with a flair for accents, Joanne has loaned her voice across a dozen voiceover genres, and dabbled in stand-up…

She has twice been in the Top 6 (and was 2021 runner-up) of the CBS2 Audition Spotlight Promo Competition at That’s Voiceover; and twice a Top 12 Finalist on the Ultimate VO Survivor.

A Jo of All Trades, she is also an award-winning fine artist and writer, occasionally ghost-writes / edits and designs books for publication, and has survived a long and eclectic career behind the scenes in entertainment, first as an estate manager, bookkeeper and celeb personal assistant, on and off the set.  She was assistant-napped by a delightfully eccentric impresario, for whom she was lead coordinator / production manager of award shows and concerts, including multiple galas for the American Cinema Awards Foundation in LA; The International Achievement in Arts Awards in London; and Michael Jackson, 30th Anniversary Celebration at Madison Square Garden in NY.  She also coordinated the six-day Platform International Animation Festival (under the Cartoon Network banner) in Portland, OR, and served as law office administrator/paralegal on the Robert Blake trial.

Joanne first started producing gala program books for said events, back in the dark ages when photos were marked by hand with wax pencils.  Along the way, as technology advanced, she picked up some mad skills in Photoshop, InDesign and WordPress, and is thrilled to put them to use as part of Team VORG.
